Last week, Kaya, our TAPI Project Manager, traveled to Parma with the TAITH Project to attend an LGBTQ+ conference organized by the Ali Forney Center, a New York-based agency supporting LGBTQ+ youth. The event brought together 25 different agencies from 16 countries around the world.

The conference provided an invaluable opportunity to network with other organizations supporting LGBTQ+ individuals globally. It was a platform to share best practices, learn about the challenges they face, and explore how they are addressing these issues.

Kaya also had the unique experience of participating in a cooking lesson at Academia Barilla. Under the guidance of three professional chefs, she delved into Italy's rich food culture, learning the techniques and traditions that make Italian cuisine so popular worldwide. This hands-on experience not only taught her how to prepare authentic Italian dishes but also deepened her appreciation for the country’s culinary heritage.

It was a fantastic experience to share the incredible work GISDA is doing to support our young people and showcase the services and opportunities we offer in Gwynedd. Engaging in conversations with other attendees provided valuable insights into developing and enhancing our services. We’re excited to bring these ideas back to the team and see how we can use the experiences of other agencies to further develop and adapt our services at GISDA.

A big thank you to the Ali Forney Centre for bringing together organisations doing such incredible work across the globe to improve services for LGBTQ+ youth. We’re grateful for the opportunity to be part of this crucial discussion. 🌈🌍
